If you play an axe, then you better become your own tech. Don't expect someone else to fix your sound problems. Beacock has always tried to be everything for everyone and that's the problem. The old park hill location was the same business model. When you attempt to be good at everything, you master nothing. They are essentially the Wal-Mart of instruments in an attempt to sell it all! The problem is now yours. They may act like they care, but ultimately it's about them taking your cash--its no different than a car dealership. Good luck. My advice, save your money and stop going into music stores.

Fantastic experience with the repair shop and staff. I will keep buying and repairing my woodwinds here!

I brought my B&S Trumpet here for a simple small dent removal. The shop tech Alex quoted me a nominal charge of 15$ to fix the dents but then offered an ultrasonic cleaning with dent removal included for 90$. I originally just wanted the dents removed but allowed myself to be convinced my horn could use an ultrasonic bath. Alex assured me he would be the one to work on my horn. Fast forward three days and I am back to pick up my horn. I inspect the work to find that the main small dent was removed but the others were pretty much un-touched. It was explained that the shop tech could not reach those without possibly affecting the play-ability of the horn. I accepted that. I then inspected my Monette mouthpiece that was originally promised to be clean that had been untouched. I asked them to clean it which they took it to the back and did. I also asked if they could go back and attempt to take out the small dents that they originally couldn't reach. Ben the on duty shop tech also attempted to do that. Fast forward about 30 minutes and the rest of the work was taken care of. I payed the 90$ and went to the practice room to inspect the work further. It was at this point I noticed a long newly made scratch on the bell of my horn. I play my horn everyday and know that it wasn't in brand new condition however, it was without this new scratch that was right next to one of the small dents on the bell they attempted to work out. I proceeded back to the shop counter to speak with Ben about the scratch, while he apologized for what may or may not have been an error on his or his shops behalf there was nothing else that could be done.

Now, I recognize there is an assumed risk asking your horn to have dents removed but I absolutely did not expect my trumpet to come home with added cosmetic issues. I feel like it is unacceptable to pay someone for work that you would hope is done right the first time to be met with a lukewarm job done. I am not complaining that the shop techs are unreliable however it does not seem that the necessary care was taken with my cherished instrument. I write this review as a caution to other musicians who would consider taking their instrument to Beacock music for work done. You may leave unhappy.
